Ramateertham (sometimes spelled as Ramatheertham) is a village panchayat in Nellimarla mandal of Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is about 15 km from Vizianagaram city. Temple is situated on the banks of Champavathi river and located beside Neelachalam Mountain with pleasant scenery and attracts pilgrims too. The temple is found near by a lake so it is named as Theertham. It is a famous Pilgrimage and also ancient Historical Site since 3rd Century BC.
Bhagavan Sri Krishna Politely declined Pandavas request to be with them when they went to Aranyavasa and blessed with the idols of Sri Sita-Rama-Lakshmana of his Previous incarnation and ordered the Pandavas to worship the Idols as a form of his own.
It is one of the holiest places in India, Ramathirtham, is a unique temple where three major faiths – Jain, Buddhist and Hindu – are represented. The complex is spread over three hills – Bodi Konda, Gurubhakta Konda and Durga Konda - containing Jain and Buddhist relics. It is believed that these hills were the abode of Lord Rama during his exile in the forest. The main temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and is believed to have been consecrated by Yudhishtira, the eldest of the Pandava Princes of the epic Mahabharat.
