The Rama temple in the heart of the city has a long history. The 2.70 acre area was owned by the Chemudu Estate in the past and its head Rani Chandramani Devi, being a staunch devotee of Sri Rama had installed wooden idols of Sri Rama, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman in her house and was worshiping daily. She wanted a Rama temple built on the site and had donated the land to the Endowments Department On May 4, 2013, idols of Sri Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman, provided by the TTD were consecrated. The Rama’s idol is 6 feet three inches tall. The Sri Kanakamahalakshi Devasthanam is administering the temple.
